Steamboat Springs Market Update
One key indicator of the
market has been the continued decrease in listing inventory. 2012 marked the 4th
consecutive year of decreasing inventory. Year-end 2012 listing inventory ended
at just over $1.3 billion which is down 25% from year-end 2008 listing
inventory of $1.7 billion.
Another key indicator of the
market has been the lessening impact of distressed properties. Distressed sales
(bank owned and short sales) represented 18% of the volume and 27% of the
transactions in 2012, which was down from 22% and 32% of the market
respectively in 2011. Also the number of foreclosure notices decreased by
almost 30% in 2012.
